…flying across the Universe.

This is easily the most epic piece I have ever assembled. Eight minutes and forty seconds of unrestrained prog rock madness, resplendent with space goddesses, flying ships, heartless evil and lush nebulas. In a very real way, this is the video my 10-year-old self would have created – I just have a few more tricks up my sleeve.
 
And, buried within it, a few more clues to the Immram mystery – “A new clue in the Immram mystery! About a month ago, Escape Artists received some old film reels and Betamax tapes from a woman living in Orly, a suburb in Paris. Apparently, the films had been hidden inside an antique dresser that had been in the apartment since the 1930s. Astoundingly, they contained a complete visual accompaniment to the second song, “Dignity”. We have had the film transferred, restored and converted to digital HD.”
 
I definitely recommend watching this in the highest resolution you can get away with. Sit back, let it wash over you and carry you away across the Universe.

A lovely wee series of TVCs put together for Manukau Institute of Technology. showing just what that piece of paper can really become. Originally commissioned to just create ‘Cinema’, the client liked the spot so much they asked for two more, waahey!

Animated sequence as part of the Opening Ceremony of the 2011 Rugby World Cup. A great excuse to show of New Zealand’s landscape, especially as a follow-up to “Twin Galaxies”. Pretty daunting to be creating something for such an event and such a massive audience, but definitely worth it.

After three years of hard work, Immram – The Voyage of the Corvus Corrone is finally here! A collaboration between myself, Module and Paul Mclaney to restore a classic 70’s prog album – including a 12″ format, 64-page hardcover book full of gatefold illustrations.

The New Sounds of Europa

A nice case of getting to revisit an old piece and bring it up to scratch. Pretty rare. Originally an image used for one of Module’s live shows, this piece was re-worked as a potential album cover.

As part of a sonic journey that takes him all across the Solar System, Module dives into the Terra-normalized oceans of Europa. In such massive, un-interrupted depths, sound waves take on fascinating properties. They flex and evolve in ways that simply cannot be replicated on Earth!

Finally, it’s here. The longest-gestating project I’ve ever been involved with is finally set to be released.

After nearly three years of development, Immram – The Voyage of the Corvus Corrone is due to be released on June 13th 2011 through Escape Artists Recordings. A progressive synth-rock trip of the highest order, the physical package involves a 64-page hardcover book with 70-minute album on cd – harking back to the days when a vinyl album had gatefold artwork and was stuffed full of liner notes to pore over while listening to the music. Everything you need to disappear into another world.
